As the official broadcaster of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, France Télévisions would like to thank the 23.4 million French viewers who watched this momentous day’s events and opening ceremony on Friday 26 July 2024.
Under the creative direction of Thomas Jolly, the Opening Ceremony held on and around the Seine offered French and international audiences a unique and innovative show based on the history of Paris and Olympism. The City of Light was transformed into an enormous open-air stage, featuring a spectacular river parade and incredible artistic performances. Some of the world’s best talents participated in this global event which enthused and bewitched audiences, athletes and delegations alike. This grandiose celebration celebrated France’s core values in the spirit of togetherness and unity, perfectly captured by the script co-penned by Patrick Boucheron, Damien Gabriac, Fanny Herrero and Leïla Slimani.

From morning to evening, our news, sports, digital and programming teams were busy in Paris as well as in our country’s regions and overseas departments to bring the festivities and the homestretch of the Olympic torch to every French citizen. This represented a broadcasting marathon of about 20 hours of live viewing aired on France 2, co-aired on franceinfo channel 27, on the platform france.tv, the france.tv PARIS 2024 digital channel and the channels of the 1ère network, presented (in order of appearance) by Maya Lauqué, Damien Thévenot, Louise Ekland, Mohamed Bouhafsi, Anne-Sophie Lapix, Cédric Beaudou, Julian Bugier, Carole Gaessler, Matthieu Lartot, Julia Vignali, Laurent Luyat, Nagui, Daphné Bürki, Laurent Delahousse et Alexandre Boyon.
